Whitby family stranded in Ecuador during COVID-19 gets no help from feds

A Whitby woman stranded in Ecuador while backpacking with her two teen daughters amidst COVID-19 says the Canadian government told them they were “not a priority” because the number of Canadian travellers in that country wasn’t enough to warrant sending help. Susan Parsons said she arrived in Ecuador on March 11 and a few days later the Canadian government released an advisory for travellers to get home. Air Zimbabwe Plans On Leasing Out Its Boeing 777s

Air Zimbabwe only recently acquired two older Boeing 777s from Malaysia Airlines. However, it already has plans to lease out the two Boeing widebodies in order to raise much-needed funds. The airline eventually has plans to fly these aircraft to destinations in China and the U.K. but this will have to wait until the leased aircraft are returned. The airline’s administrator, Reggie Saruchera of Grant Thornton, broke the news this weekend. Saruchera added that nine companies have already expressed interest in leasing the two Boeing 777-200ERs.
